Trixie and the Mixed Up Romance

Nancy Drew and her father host a detective conference in River Heights. They invite the Hardy brothers as well as Trixie Belden and all the Bob-whites.

Nancy is dressed in a smart turqoise suit, matching ear rings and braclets, with cream-colored pumps.

Trixie is in dungarees.

To Trixie's horror, Nancy falls in love with Jim Frayne and dumps trusty-old Ned. Shortly thereafter, however, Trix goes all in for Frank Hardy.

Joe Hardy, never one to miss a beat, sees opportunity in the partnership of the Hardys with the Belden-Detective Wheeler agency which will leave the Drews behind in the dust. Of course, he isn't the least interested in Honey's vast inheritance when he slips his ring on her finger.

Ned finds solace in the company of Di who is much less demanding than the bossy Nancy. (The inheritance might be a toss-up. The Lynch's are richer for sure, but they have five kids to Drew Carson's one. Probably a draw.)

The Hudson River Valley boys, Mart, Brian, and Dan, cut their losses and soon are delighted in the company of Nancy's friends Helen, George, and Bess - whose previous relationships didn't work out. Plus the girls are eager to teach at Jim's school for disadvantaged youth. (George is short for Georgia Frayne - no known relationship to Jim Fayne. But? Well, who knows.)

At the height of the trip, Miss Trask announces her engagement to Drew Carson who has been a widower since Nancy's mother died fifteen years ago. Yeah, he's almost over it.

But the coup de gras occurs when Hannah Gruen strolls in on the arm of Mr. Maypenny whom Dan convinced to come along for a trappers' conference down the road which was held at the same time.

Suddenly Trixe wakes up in a cold sweat. Was this all a nightmare or not? Then she covers her mouth in horror.

Question: What is bothering Trixie?
