The Big Picture

The Bob-Whites were New Yorkers. Their little town of Sleepyside-on-the-Hudson was north of New York City.

But they didn't stay there. The first year of their club saw adventures in:

• #11 - Ozark Mountains, Missouri

• #13 - Island off the Atlantic Coast
• #14 - Virginia
• #15 - Mississippi River

New York: Trixie's Home State

The Hudson River Valley in Westchester County was her home. The Hudson River is widest close to where they lived and wandered into many of the stories.

Westchester County

Several towns and local legends lend an authentic flavor to the stories. Sleepyside-on-the-Hudson is not the actual name of the town. The real name is Ossining, but the original author combined the name of two close villages (Sleepy Hollow and Croton-on-the-Hudson) for the stories. Both are mentioned in the books, as well as White Plains where they did their major shopping. (No Amazon.con at that time, and you couldn't buy everything from Mr. Lyntell's store.

The orange titles list the major buroughs of New York City. Mr. Wheeler and Mr. Lynch communted daily.
